RTMS staff prepares materials for use in a binder organization system.  A binder should have these core materials:

 

Expected

  • good quality, extra large 3-ring binder
  • 6 to 7 tabbed dividers to separate classes
  • zipper pouch to store supplies, if binder doesn’t have built-in storage
  • pens, blue or black (two at all times)
  • pencils (two at all times)
  • pen, red for grading
  • 12+ color pencil or marker assortment.  20+ colors recommended in 8th grade.
  • loose leaf paper

 

Suggested

  • highlighters
  • small scissors
  • glue stick
  • paper hole reinforcement stickers
  • 4 - 5 large book covers (Also available at school store)
  • 2 dry erase markers
  • 4 function calculator

Recommended models (issued for SOL testing) include:

TI-30Xa solar, 4 function calculator

TI-83 series graphing calculator, for Algebra and geometry students only

Students may find it helpful to have these materials available at home to complete homework assignments:

 

metric ruler

plain white/computer paper

fine and/or thick markers

protractor (8th grade)

glue or glue sitck
