Jaguar Announcements NO TRACK MEET AND NO TRACK PRACTICE TODAY There will be boys' and girls' practice tomorrow, May 16th. Track pictures will be taken before practice tomorrow. Boys are to wear a shirt and tie for pictures. See Coach Orchant if you need a picture form. The scheduled meet against SHMS is still on for Thursday and today's meet is rescheduled for Friday. Stafford County STEM Camps Stafford County is offering several camps to middle school students. Please click on the link below for more information and application. Spring 2012 SOL Schedule To view Spring 2012 SOL Schedule Click here ![]() Commonwealth Governor's School-Upcoming Events Congratulations to all 19 of the Thompson 8th graders who were accepted into the Commonwealth Governor's School program for next year. There are several upcoming events that you need to be aware of. On Wednesday, May 9th at Stafford High School from 6-8pm there will be an opportunity for you to meet with Mrs. Vanderploeg and discuss any questions that you have about your first year. On Monday, May 14th at 10:00am there will be a math assessment for all entering CGS students. This will take place in the library and the test will take 1-hour to complete. Please be on time and bring a pencil and scratch paper. On Thursday, May 17th from 4-7pm there will be a CGS Family Picnic at Pratt Park in Stafford County. Food will be served and you are invited to bring a side dish or dessert to share. There will be burger, hotdogs, games, and fun. Stafford County School Dental Prgram Our Dental Clinic treats children from Headstart through Grade 12. To see the eligibility reguirements CLICK. Attention Parents and Students Library books are due May 29th. Please don't wait, turn in your overdue library books as soon as possible. Career Camp June 18-22 at Germanna Community College. Students explore what interest and motivates them Labs expose students to a number of career areas Students entering eighth grade have the opportunity to learn about themselves and how their interests relate to careers “Hands-on” activities are used for students to explore career areas Activities & materials are designed to start students thinking about careers and the high school courses that can help them get ready for college & a future career of their choice Field trips that give students a chance to see work up close A picnic to give students & parents a chance to share their experiences A FREE, week long summer experience for rising eighth grade students from Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Caroline, Culpeper, Orange, & Madison County Public Schools, & Fredericksburg City Public Schools. University of Maryland invites students to apply for their Young Scholars Summer Program. The dates are July 15-27, 2012. In this selective program, academically talented rising 8th and 9th grade students interact with experts in innovative fields, explore career opportunities, and take diverse courses that encourage creative reasoning and problem solving. Camp Rainbow helps kids *Grieve in a healthy manner *Normalize grief *Understand death and dying *Create new friendships *Improve social skills *Celebrate the life of the loved one(s) Activities include: Sharing groups, hiking, fishing, campfire, games, sports, arts and crafts, challenge course, a wonderful balloon ceremony, a luncheon with family and friends and more!
